2023 - Sean’s Legacy: An MVP writing guide focused on inclusivity
Target audience: Future UX writers / content designers who would work with Sean’s Legacy, copywriters, and designers. Product type: MVP of a mentorship platform (think ADPList) for queer folks, primarily high school or college students.
How I contributed: Collaborated with 2 other content designers on my team to come up with a style guide that focused on building user trust through inclusive language, consistency, and developing a strong brand persona for the product. As this was an MVP, we also provided suggestions for future writers to consider.
Outcomes: Full MVP style guide, and some notable extracts below:
Voice and tone guidelines:
Advocating for consistent, inclusive language to build user trust
2022 - Oppia: First writing style guide for product, dev, marketing, and design
Target audience: Other writers on the team, lesson writers, marketing writers, and open-source contributors Product type: Edtech platform with math lessons, targeting grade school learners in underserved areas of the world, including India, Pakistan, Africa, and South America
How I contributed: Given the target audience and product type, I focused primarily on articulating the content strategy at each stage of a user journey, the tone, and provided many helpful examples. This style guide also emphasised readability, given that many of our users were not English-native.
